Specialized Athletic Training MT Training Center

Objectives

  

The Specialized Athletic Training program is designed to provide the student with the experience and competencies to engage athletes with thoughtful and rigorous training that will be impactful by providing measurable results in improved performance and stamina. 


The Specialized Athletic Training program offers a total of 640 hours of student instruction, which includes 520 hours of classroom lecture/exercises and 120 hours of lab (includes, but is not limited to simulations, observations, and practical instruction).


Class Schedule and cost

  

Classes are scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:30 A.M. - 4:00 P.M. Classes will receive various breaks throughout the day with a half hour for lunch.

Enrollment into the program begins every Monday.


Clock Hours:      640 Hours

Length:      19 Weeks Day / 26 Weeks Evening

Ratios:      5:1 (Students / Instructors)

Admission Requirements

Admission Requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements before being admitted into the Specialized Athletic Training program at MT Training Center: Possess a high school diploma, G.E.D. equivalent, or be able to pass the Accuplacer Test. Applicants must schedule an interview with the admissions office and submit a completed application. Applicants must: Be a United States citizen or have proof of current permanent residency; be able to read and write English. Once accepted, they will be subject to the school’s refund and cancellation policy. Class size is limited based upon space availability. MT Training Center is open to all candidates without regard to race, color, nationality, national origin, religion, age, sex, creed, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, disability, or marital status. The admission standards are in complete compliance with the Texas Workforce Career School and Colleges Regulatory Board, the Texas Veterans Commission, and the U.S. Department of Education’s regulations.

Graduation Requirements: The successful student will have completed 80% of clock hours at a 2.0 G.P.A. or higher. The student will also be able to demonstrate the effective strategies necessary for coaching athletes.

Upon completion of the program, the student will be issued a Certificate of Completion by MT Training Center.

Track and Field Training

Soccer and Football Training

This comprehensive course is designed to prepare athletic trainers with the knowledge, skills, and practical strategies needed to effectively train track and field athletes across a variety of events and competitive levels. Participants will explore evidence-based coaching methods that enhance athletic performance while promoting long-term athlete development, safety, and well-being.

The curriculum covers the fundamental principles of sprinting, middle- and long-distance running, hurdles, relays, jumps, throws, and combined events. Students will learn event-specific techniques, biomechanics, training program design, strength and conditioning principles, speed development, injury prevention, recovery strategies, and performance analysis.

In addition to technical instruction, the course emphasizes athlete-centered coaching, effective communication, motivation, leadership, ethical decision-making, and the creation of positive training environments. Participants will gain practical experience in planning training sessions, evaluating athlete performance, implementing periodized training programs, and adapting coaching strategies to meet the needs of youth, high school, collegiate, and elite athletes.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:

• Apply sport science principles to improve athletic performance.

• Teach and refine event-specific techniques using 

    evidence based coaching practices.

• Design safe, progressive, and effective annual training plans.

• Assess athlete performance and provide constructive

feedback.

• Implement injury prevention and recovery strategies.

• Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance team culture.

• Demonstrate professional, ethical, and effective coaching

practices.


This course is ideal for aspiring and experienced coaches, physical education teachers, strength and conditioning professionals, former athletes, and sports practitioners seeking to expand their expertise in track and field coaching. Prerequisites: None

This comprehensive training course equips athletic trainers with the knowledge, skills, and practical tools needed to develop high-performing soccer and football athletes at the youth, collegiate, and elite levels. Participants will explore evidence-based coaching strategies that enhance athletic performance while promoting long-term athlete development, injury prevention, and overall well-being.


The course integrates the latest research in sport science, biomechanics, strength and conditioning, nutrition, psychology, and performance analysis with sport-specific coaching techniques. Students will learn how to design effective training sessions, improve technical and tactical performance, develop physical and mental resilience, and foster positive team culture.


Key topics include athlete assessment, performance testing, speed and agility development, strength and power training, recovery strategies, communication and leadership, motivation, injury risk reduction, return-to-play protocols, and the use of technology and data analytics to optimize athlete performance.


Through case studies, practical coaching applications, and interactive learning experiences, participants will gain the confidence to create individualized development plans, manage athletes across different stages of development, and lead successful, athlete-centered programs.


Upon completion of the course, coaches will be able to:


• Design evidence-based training programs tailored to soccer and football athletes.

• Apply sport science principles to improve athletic performance and reduce injury risk.

• Develop technical, tactical, physical, and psychological aspects of athlete performance.

• Utilize performance data to inform coaching decisions and monitor athlete progress.

• Foster effective communication, leadership, and team culture.

• Implement ethical and inclusive coaching practices that support long-term athlete success.


This course is ideal for aspiring and experienced coaches, strength and conditioning professionals, physical education teachers, sport performance specialists, and others seeking to advance their expertise in coaching soccer and football athletes.

Students develop effective communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills through practical application, with an emphasis on building rapport, providing information, demonstrating cultural awareness, maintaining professional boundaries, and fostering positive interactions within educational and community settings. Prerequisites None.
